Whether you are a beginner or advanced guitarist, I can help you get better.
Hi, I’m Bob Roland. I’ve been playing and teaching guitar professionally since I was 19 years old. While studying classical guitar, I practiced six hours per day and played with performers at the highest levels of classical music. When I began to get asked to play in pit bands for theater shows I quickly understood why there was a shortage of guitarists in theater. Most guitarists were too specialized and had poor reading skills. This just should not be! But I realized that I was also too specialized as a formally trained classical guitarist. Most classical guitarists just didn’t have the feel for pop styles of music. After much hard work, I was fortunate to play in many pit orchestras, and a wide variety of ensembles that include electric guitar. I’ve also been blessed to play with some super talented people in contemporary Christian music and country bands. I've also composed, arranged and performed music for radio ads and music videos. These days it pays to be versatile if you want to be a professional. There is a large gap between the way guitar and other instruments are taught and it starts with students at a very young age. Thats why I created an approach to teaching elementary age students. Children are taught with a left hand position that almost always greatly slows down their progress. |
Who I can help:
1-Students from beginner to advanced, children and adults. Whether you aspire to be a pro, or you just love to play for enjoyment.
2-College students or someone preparing to apply to music school. 3-Someone who wants to play in a church praise band. You shouldn’t have three guitarists all playing the same cowboy chords at the first position! 4-A classical guitarist who wants to learn other styles. Learn to play rock, blues & country licks without a pick! 5-A rock guitarist who wants to learn classical guitar. Stop avoiding your left pinky finger! |
How I can help
It all starts with a good foundation.
1-Left hand, sitting and standing positions that are consistent. So you’re not limited to your personal arsenal of licks & riffs. 2-Teach you to read music the way you read the English language. Very few guitarists ever learn this. 3-The choreography approach to practicing and learning music. Many guitarist don’t do this and it’s a huge mistake. You’ll never maximize your playing if you do not do this. Just my experience and expertise to help your individual needs. No shortcuts, secrets or gimmicks. |
